Middlesex and Colne, Lea and Thames Valleys Federation Summer Leagues 2006 sponsored by CA Bats and The Barmy Army

My dear friends

It has taken us a wee while to get our special evening finalised but now we have the date, time and place!

Without going into it too much we were let down on a number of fronts, but our thanks go to Jeff Barnes, Bob Knight and Bill Darvill for pulling all the stops out and getting everything sorted before the start of the season as we promised.

I have to go into hospital so will not be able to join you on the evening. But with David Nash, the sunny face of Middlesex CCC who needs anyone else! It is David's benefit and he is the main man and will be presenting the awards. This is a particularly proud moment for us at the Federation as I recall when we presented Dai bach with one of our Middlesex Federation grants back in the early 1990s -and our investment has sure paid off.

There will be some fantastic prizes for our raffle/auction on the night - which I will leave for you to discover for yourself on the night but as a sneak preview I know there is a Wisden's collector's special presented to us by John Brown publishing - and autographed sports books coming from my publisher at Random House. What we raise will be split between David's benefit fund and our own charity, SportsWISE specifically for our own young players' league in 2007.

Please note, like our Middlesex Millennium evening in 2004/5 the ticket prices are priced  at what we pay for food and hire, nothing has been added for the young players.

Exciting times lie ahead for our league in 2007 with a new sponsor and the chance for your team to be on the TV - more to about that later, just make sure you sign up your club and teams before the deadline expires. The new E-mail to use is down below for both tickets and signing up for this summer not this one - I am now heading for Preston to play the Narrator in the Rocky Horror Show and then off for my op!
